Today, the garden has a collection of more than 150 species of trees and shrubs. They can be easily identified by signs placed at the foot of the trees.
The botanical garden also accommodates a rich bird life with over 40 identified species: black and white swans, peacock pigeons, Magellan geese, as well as a large variety of waterfowl.
To enhance its relaxing atmosphere, the landscaping of the botanical garden has been continuously improved since its opening by improved access for disabled persons, additional benches, etc.
Furthermore, access to the botanical garden is prohibited for unleashed dogs, and doggie clean-up bags are available for their owners.
The Jardin de Gaston botanical garden offers a walking route of about 1,200 meters. For a longer walk, the botanical garden can be included in the Green Trail.
