Alpilles Regional Park (PNRA)

Established in February 2007, the Alpilles Regional Park (PNRA) covers a total area of 50,000 hectares. Located in the Alpes Cotes d’Azur area of Provence, it is the latest in a series of Regional Parks that includes the Camargue, the Luberon, Verdon and Queyras Regional Parks. Within the Bouches-du-Rhone administrative department, the Camargue and Alpilles Regional Parks cover more than 70% of the Pays d’Arles. Defined as a Rural Territory of Endangered Heritage, the PNRA bases its development on the objectives a 12-year Sustainable Development Plan.

The landscapes of Alpilles Regional Park are no less due to the deep forces of nature than to the work of men, who in the course of centuries, have cleared the forests, built up villages, planted vineyards and olive groves, dug deep into the mountain, and toiled the land… Besides its unsurpassed landscapes, the heritage and traditions of the Alpilles are also deeply carved into the souls of the inhabitants of this land and emerge as a unique identity.

Today, preserving this fragile and exceptional identity has become the mission that PNRA has undertaken.
